Relation between different serum markers and the occurrence of a reduced nailfold capillary density. Serum IL-15 correlated with an increased risk of reduced nailfold capillary density when compared with systemic-sclerosis-related antibodies and markers for inflammatory activity. Inflammatory activity describes an increased erythrocyte sedimentation rate, increased C-reactive protein or increased orosomucoid either alone or in combination.
