Differentiation of CD4 T cells into specialized Th1 or Th2 effector cells. Upon activation
with specific antigen, CD4 T cells proliferate and differentiate into either the Th1
or the Th2 subset. Th1 cells promote cellular immunity and are involved in the development
of autoimmune diseases; Th2 cells mediate humoral immunity and are involved in allergic
