aAll epitopes were in native triple-helical form. Amino acids are abbreviated as follows: G, glycine; P, proline; B, hydroxyproline; E, glutamic acid; R, arginine; K, lysine; H, histidine; F, phenylalanine; A, alanine; L, leucine; T, threonine; Y, tyrosine; εACA, ε-aminohexanoic acid-lysine-lysine-tyrosine-glycine-OH. bAbsorbance at 405 nm in ELISA tested with affinity-purified mAbs. In the ELISA plates, all the triple-helical peptides were coated at 4 μg/ml, whereas type II collagen (CII) was coated at 10 μg/ml. CIIC1, M2139 and UL1 are mouse monoclonal antibodies and were all tested at a concentration of 1 μg/ml; 122.9 is a rat monoclonal antibody and was tested with culture supernatant.
