Regulation of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) signaling by STAT3 (signal transduction and
activators of transcription 3) and suppressor of cytokine signaling 3 (SOCS3) in macrophages.
SOCS3 strongly suppresses STAT3 activated by IL-6/gp130 but not by IL-10, because
SOCS3 does not bind to the IL-10 receptor. STAT3 is shown to suppress LPS signaling
through STAT3, but the molecular mechanism of this process has not been clarified.
