Percentage changes in bone mineral density (BMD) of the femoral neck measured by dual-energy
x-ray absorptiometry (DXA) at 6, 12 and 18 months after the start of treatment in
the bisphosphonate (Bis) and Bis + statin groups. Circles represent the Bis group and triangles represent the Bis + statin group.
Significant decreases in BMD of the femoral neck were observed at 6 and 18 months
in the Bis group, but in the Bis + statin group a significant decrease in BMD was
not observed during the follow-up period. *P < 0.05, **P < 0.01, for comparison to baseline for each group.
