A chondrosarcoma cell line (OUMS-27) and chondrocytes from a patient with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) were cultured in medium containing 1 ng/ml fibroblast growth factor (FGF)-2 (a, b) or 1 ng/ml epidermal growth factor (EGF) (c) and/or 1 μg/ml NGAL. After the time indicated on the x axis, the proliferation of OUMS-27 cells and chondrocytes were measured by dimethylthiazol diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay.
